Nightfall global keyboard shortcut for Dark Mode The toggle is set to ⌃+⌥+⌘+T by default, but you can customize it to any shortcut you prefer. Press the Command key at the right side of your keyboard and then click OK. Scroll down in the left column and select 'Special: Left Alt.' Next, click the 'Type Key' button under 'To key' on the right. In System Preferences → Keyboard → Shortcuts you’ll find a new Toggle Dark Mode option in the Services menu. In order to use the transition feature, however, you’ll need to lend Nightfall access to the Screen Recording permission in macOS. Unlike similar utilities that I’ve seen, Nightfall closely mimics the transition that occurs when switching between Light and Dark Mode via System Preferences. This is a very thoughtful feature because otherwise, switching to Dark Mode is jarring and abrupt. The utility’s preferences also allow the user to customize both the duration of the transition and the delay that occurs upon invoking the switch between each mode. During the presentation, to open a list of shortcuts, press F1. For step-by-step instructions to record a macro, refer to the section Record a macro in Automate tasks with the Macro Recorder to create one. If an action that you use often does not have a shortcut key, you can record a macro. With one click of the menu bar icon, it allows you to quickly toggle between Light and Dark Mode on macOS. Press Ctrl+F, and then type your search words. Get into the habit of closing thirsty apps like Photoshop or Excel when you arent using them. You can also use File > Quit, or use the Command+Q keyboard shortcut while the app is focused. Nightfall is a simple utility that lives in the menu bar. You can right-click, Command-click, or two-finger tap an app icon in the dock and click Quit to end the process. Next time you move the mouse or press the keyboard, it will wake-up.
